ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT FOR "THE GRANARY" (see further below for "The Workshop")

Our aim is to ensure that all of our guests have an enjoyable, comfortable and memorable stay at Myrtle Hill Cottages.

The cottage is a barn conversion that was completed in 2002 and was designed to ensure easy access for all guests, both externally and internally.  The proprietors live in the farmhouse on site and are available at most times to assist all guests where possible.

PARKING AND ACCESS

  • The off-road parking area is level, constructed of sound tarmac and is serviced by floodlighting on a motion sensor.  Parking for 5 cars.
  • There is a concrete path leading from the parking area to the front door, with low level footlights activated by motion sensors; a distance of 20 m. 
  • The path has a slight slope, but has a handrail along the full length.  It is wide enough to comfortably accommodate a wheelchair.

RECEPTION

  • Keys for the cottage are held at the farmhouse, which is approximately 25m from the parking area and on the same level.  Alternatively, keys can be left in the cottage by prior arrangement.

COTTAGE

  • Main entrance – small step (120 mm) into cottage.  Doorway 700 mm wide.
  • French door entrance – small lip (30 mm) into cottage.  Double doorway 1200 mm wide.
  • Open plan kitchen / dining / lounge area.
  • Kitchen has both low-level and high-level cupboards with an upright fridge freezer (fridge on top)
  • Lounge area has a two-seater sofa and a three-seater sofa.
  • Twin bedroom is on ground floor with ramp access from the lounge area.  There is also direct access from this bedroom to the outdoor patio area – small step (160 mm).
  • Double bedroom is via one flight of stairs with 90-degree turn near the top; 11 steps in total; steps are 200 mm in height, 220 mm in depth. Stairwell is 600 mm wide.
  • Bathroom is on the ground floor and the doorway is 800 mm wide; bath height is 560 mm with flexible shower and shower curtain over; toilet height is 430 mm; sink height is 800 mm.
  • Remote control Digital TV with DVD player; remote control Radio/CD player.
  • Large print “Information Folder” is available on request.
  • Non-feather pillows and duvets.
  • Emergency telephone numbers for local doctors, vets and directions to the nearest hospital are included in the “Information Folder”.

COTTAGE

  • Main entrance – small step (120 mm) into cottage.  Doorway 780 mm wide.
  • French door entrance – small step (60 mm) into cottage.  Double doorway 1280 mm wide.
  • Open plan kitchen / dining / lounge area.
  • Kitchen has low-level cupboards only with a low-level fridge (small freezer box compartment)
  • Lounge area has a two-seater sofa and a single armchair.
  • Double bedroom is via a spiral staircase; 11 steps in total; steps are 230 mm in height, 150 mm in depth (middle of step).  Stairwell is 580 mm wide.
  • Bathroom is on the ground floor and the doorway is 760 mm wide; bath height is 560 mm with flexible shower over; toilet height is 430 mm; sink height is 780 mm.
  • Remote control Digital TV with DVD player.
  • Large print “Information Folder” is available on request.
